Right now we’re dealing with static data – there is no real way to update this todos array. To be clear, there is a way to do it using JavaScript, but what we are not currently able to do is tell React, even if we were to update it, that it needs to re-render this list. We know that each todo is an object and it has to consist of the properties id, text, and done. It is important for React to figure out how it should appropriately update our user interface. If we were to update a todo’s text or done value, the key is what tells React which todo item needs to be updated. Within the TodoList component, where are our props going to be received to ultimately display our todos data?

Accommodations appear to ensure all students can engage and gain from the lesson. There are so many other methods and concepts you should know, but these are the ones you might not really pay attention to while learning JavaScript. These are important to understand before you learn React. In this article, we have learned over 10 JavaScript methods and concepts that everyone should understand thoroughly before learning React. We iterate over our array and then obtain a callback function, which is similar to map(), filter(), find(), and the others. The main distinction is that it reduces our array to a single value, which may be a number, array, or object.
All of its code is written in JavaScript, including the HTML markup, which is written in JSX (this enables developers to easily write HTML and JavaScript together). With React, you can easily create forms that are highly customizable and apply data validation to them. A variety of form components are also available for developers, such as input fields, dropdowns, radio buttons, and checkboxes. With React, developers can also create forms that are user-friendly and have a seamless flow from one form field to the next. Working with style sheets is essential when it comes to ReactJS.
That’s why we’ve developed a separate flashcards app where you can reinforce the new concepts that you learned using spaced repetition. We’ve got a unique approach as we like to dive into the details so React by Example Lessons that you can fully understand how React works. Understand how React works not just how to build with React. Check out the Tutorial to put them into practice and build your first mini-app with React.
With vanilla JS, it’s easy to get lost in a maze of DOM searches and updates. React forces you to break down your app into components which produces more maintainable code. If you want to then update the DOM in vanilla JS, you have to locate the appropriate node and then manually append or remove elements. React automatically updates the UI based on the application state, which we will discuss in more detail in the next section. By allowing components to communicate with each other, ReactJS can determine which component should be rendered first and help decide the winner of the interaction.
If we look at our file explorer on the left, we’ll see app is being imported and rendered here within this index.js file. The lessons & challenges will guide you through these topics step by step while building the online supermarket shopping app. You will rely on JavaScript features like for loop and the array map() function to render lists of components. This lesson plan aims to teach 6th graders how to think in a critical manner.
